Buzzards, Merlin, and Amwell

I went to Amwell and on the way saw six Buzzards near Barley. Best of all however was a Merlin that I saw when we got to Barley.

At Amwell I saw a pair of Ringed Plovers, a Little Ringed Plover, a pair of Redshank, Grey Wagtail, and a Cuckoo. Sedge Warblers and Cetti's Warblers were also heard.

I took this photo of Lapwings flying...

Red Kites

I went to Brigstock, Northamptonshire with Fowlmere Bulfinches and saw about 40 to 50 Red Kites going to roost. I took some photos and this one is the best...

Fieldfare

A Fieldfare was on the lawn. This is the first ever one actually in the garden so I took a (not very good) quick photo. 23 flew over the garden before this one.

Rye House and Amwell

Today I went to Rye Meads and Amwell with Fowlmere Bullfinches. I saw two Kingfishers with close views over three hours. They were both males (because of their stubbier and red bills) and they seemed to be fighting over fishing ground.

Snowy Owl and Hooded Merganser

I went to see the Snowy Owl in Cornwall. We walked around the moors, mostly seeing his head. We also saw the Hooded Merganser at Radipole but it might be an escape.

Here is a water colour of the Owl, mostly as I saw it...
